Groundhog Day!
February 2nd, a rodent’s inane holiday
To predict whether Spring is near or far away
Rooted in Candlemas tradition
The groundhog was a later addition
“For as the sun shines on Candlemas Day
* “So far will the snow swirl until May”
People flock to Gobbler’s Knob
To see the marmot do his job
A woodchuck named Punxsutawny Phil
Sees his shadow and we get a bitter pill
Six weeks of winter, still
But if he sees skies cloudy and gray
Spring is only 42 days away.
* quoted from a German couplet; author unknown

Annual Conference Mission Project
This
year Yellowstone Conference will collect the contents of layette kits
for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) West Depot in Salt
Lake City. Each
church can decide whether to collect all the items needed for a kit, or
to focus on two or three items. All items should be brought to Annual
Conference in June. Items will be delivered to the depot in July. You can find the list of contents of the kit here.
Some important things to remember:
Some important things to remember:
- All items must be new.
- Do not wash any of the items as they will then be considered used.
- All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items, nothing more.
- Do not include any personal notes, money, or additional material in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
