Pastor Charles continued the summer sermon series based on readings from the book, "Stories That Sneak Up on You" with "The Conversion of Paul Bunyan."

Lively UMW Circle this morning!

The UMW Saturday Morning Circle had a change of venue this morning with six on hand for the meeting at the Frontier CafĂ© for  breakfast.

Among the items discussed were the after-action thoughts on the rummage sale, the Saturday Circle finances, the recycling effort, and the Pantry Partners items for July.

Pantry Partners items for July include: mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, kool-aid mixes, and lemonade mixes.

The recycling is going well with regular drop-offs at the parsonage taking place. We are taking items to Missoula each week. Pastor Charles mentioned that in addition to the plastic we are collecting, he is also taking tin cans and small cardboard items.

There will not be a meeting in July. The next gathering will take place on August 19 @ 9:00 am (at the church).

Other upcoming events:
14 July - Summer UMW Picnic @ Bonita Z.'s
21-22 July - Summer Mission u @ Aldersgate UMC - Butte
4-5 August - Creamery Picnic
9 September - Western Mountains District fall event
6-7 October - YAC UMW annual meeting @ Bozeman UMC

Vegetable sows hope in parched Zimbabwe

June 13, 2017 | CHIVI, Zimbabwe (UMNS)

Margaret Tagwira feels the heavy burden African women bear for the survival of their families.

As an agricultural researcher at United Methodist Africa University, she has made it her life’s work to ease the load placed squarely on the slender shoulders of women as they struggle daily to feed their families.

Tagwira, a senior laboratory technician, earned a master of public health and graduate diploma in Non-governmental Organization management from Africa University. She was responsible for planning and setting up the first laboratories at the school.
Her compassion for women has made her an evangelist for chaya, a drought-resistant shrub she calls a “woman’s plant” because it is loaded with protein, iron, calcium, potassium and Vitamin A — all essential nutrients, especially for women and babies.

Public Service through Prayer

"Prayer" and "public" are words that, when put together, are off-putting or intimidating to some and agitating to others. But "public" and "prayer" put together can also lead to beautiful moments of hope, connection, and reconciliaiton. We have identified five ways we all can be of public service through practices of prayer. In looking at our list, perhaps you can think of more:
