It was a festive atmosphere in the fellowship hall today as the ladies and guests arrived for the annual UMW Christmas party. Thanks to Mary Costello, Sue Pearson, and Marcia Prather for the amazing job they did in bringing to life the theme, "Cowboy Christmas."
Special guests included YAC UMW president Stacey King, Western Mountains District UMW president Laurie Ball and her husband, Keith, and the Rev. Deb Wacker (from Corvallis UMC).
Carole Koval led the program, a celebration of the UMW's Christmas party with the theme: "Cowgirl/Cowboy Christmas." This included a sampling of cowboy poetry and a the music provided by the members of Sunshine!
Reports:
Legacy Fund report: President Belinda Alkula asked us to remember the UMW's Legacy Fund.
2017 Report: Just under $14,000 was raised this year, with money going to mission work locally, nationally, and internationally. The funds will be disbursed in accordance with the vote on the budget at the January meeting.
The Saturday Morning Circle is doing great things with a focus on missions to include leading the way in the church recycling effort.
The UMW Reading Circle has inspired us to learn and grow together. Some of our books from past years were donated to the reading book's table at the conference UMW Annual Meeting with proceeds supporting the Legacy Fund.
We continue to be recognized at a 5-Star Unit each year. The five channels of giving enable us to give to the ministry and mission of the United Methodist Women.
