The October meeting of the UMW Friday Circle took place today with nineteen present. Hostesses today were Sue Pearson, Connie Rakiecki, and Hazel Smith.
Today's program was shared by Claire Kelly who spoke to the gathering about the #Metoo experience for many women.
Linda Kauffman shared the devotion, taken from the September issue of Response, about how we might respond to the news of the day from a faith-based orientation.
Linda Kauffman led the business of the unit:
$100 is being sent to UMCOR for the domestic disaster response to Hurricane Florence and $100 to UMCOR for the international disaster response to the typhoon that struck the Philippines.
+Spiritual Care/Membership: Connie Rakiecki welcomed two new members, Karen Johnson and Julie Weindel.
+Treasurer: Bonita Ziegler reported on the balance we have to work from.
+Receptions: None in September.
+Prayer Shawls: Carole K. reported that we presented two shawls since last month. These will take our tally to 254 shawls.
+Reading Program: Four were present at the September gathering. Linda K. has already read five books!
+Response Magazine: No report. +Saturday UMW Circle: Has suspended meeting.
+Bazaar: Sue Pearson reminded us that volunteers are needed in most areas. Setup will be Nov. 2, 9 am - until we're done. The bazaar will be on Nov. 3, 9 am - 2 pm.
+Social Action Report: Hazel Smith reported on the Conference UMW meeting which considered the opioid crisis and the response.

+Legacy cookbooks The cookbooks are in! Janice Belcher, Marcia Prather, and Linda Kauffman have recipies included.
+Conference UMW news Four members from Stevi UMC were at the September gathering at First UMC - Missoula. Marcia Prather and Hazel Smith were among the presenters on the opioid crisis.
+District UMW news: Belinda Alkula reported that three from our Unit were in Dillon last month for a story-telling themed gathering.
Next meeting will be on November 9th at The Living Center (2nd floor).
