Call for kits

From the Yellowstone Conference:

Want to DO something to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey [and other disasters] and the fires here in the West?  Jesus calls us reach out to our neighbors, and offer HOPE, especially in times of need.  The United Methodist Church has connections to make that possible.

There is a great need for Cleaning Buckets

Many, many of you contributed this spring and brought supplies to annual conference.  Now, we ask you to go the second mile and gather supplies again in September. You can simply gather the supplies, or gather the supplies and assemble the kits. Click on the links above for details.

The Yellowstone Conference clergy are gathering Oct. 4-6 at Fairmont Hot Springs, and we ask that all attendees bring the supplies to Fairmont.  Dave Harvey from Bozeman UMC will collect all the supplies on Oct. 5 and take them to the UMCOR West Depot in Salt Lake City.  If you cannot get supplies to Fairmont, please contact me, Sally McConnell, and we may be able to make arrangements to pick up your supplies at an earlier date somewhere else.

Gather your kids, the men and women of your church and community and see what a difference you can make.  Share the love of God!  Fill a bucket!

A United Methodist Prayer for Workers

In this video reflection, let us lift up United Methodists across the connection and pray for those who work full-time, who serve as volunteers, or who seek employment. The meditation features a blessing for those in all lines of work. You are encouraged to share or download this video to use in Sunday school classes, before or during worship, or with your co-workers.

A Blessing for Workers and All Seeking Work

Blessed are You, ever-creating God, in Your image, our lives are made; in Your glory, we offer all the work of our hearts and hands and minds.

Blessed are You, O God, now and forever!

Blessed are you whose work is repaid, for by your work, and by the payment you receive your lives and the lives of others around you and around the world are blessed.

We thank God for you day by day.

Blessed are you whose work is unpaid, who offer what you can to enrich the lives of others, through time, talents, skill, strength, and love.

We praise God for your generous labor!

Blessed are you who seek work but have not found it,
or whose work now is not yet what it may be yet still you seek, that your gifts may be shared more fully.

We praise God for your diligent seeking and pray you may soon find!

Yours is the glory in their labors. Yours be the glory in all our lives, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Labor Day weekend @ SUMC

Acolytes at work
Anna shares the anthem
Julie shares the postlude
Fellowship time!
Outreach Committee making plans for the fall
On the day before Labor Day, we rested from our labors and came into the house of God to praise our God from Whom all blessings flow!

We were blessed through the gift of music during the worship service as Anna Storkson shared a medley of hymns and songs for our summer music offering. Pastor Charles' sermon, "Love's labor found," came from John 6:5-14, 26-27.

Thanks this morning to:

Paul Ludington (praise music), Luke Malo & Will (acolytes), Julie Ludington (piano), Tom Bishop (video), Bev Schneider (liturgist), Cammie Edgar (power point), Anna Storkson (summer music), Sharon Wheeler and Vickie Vernon (ushers), Sara Malo (communion), Bill Gragg and Don Nelson (offering counters), and Diane Bailey, Shirley McKelvey, & Sharon Wheeler (fellowship time).

UMW Assembly 2018

When women unite, BOLD and courageous actions happen.

Assembly 2018 will be a forum for United Methodist Women members, new friends and partners to gather, worship and learn about the needs of women, children and youth in the 21st century. We will be claiming our 150-year history as women who know how to organize and serve and are willing to be challenged to grow in our faith as we build deeper connections with one another, church leaders and partners in the work of justice for all God’s children. Assembly will offer an incredible personal faith journey through community building, training for action and visioning a movement for the future. Bold and courageous ventures await us!

Join us in Columbus, Ohio at the United Methodist Women Assembly 2018, May 18-20, 2018, as we continue to be a unique movement for transformation in our church and the world.

Assembly 2018 will be a time for fellowship and opportunity to empower faithful women to be stronger discipleship leaders in their communities. Through moving worship, inspiring speakers, immersion experience exhibits, riveting workshops and town hall-style meetings, members will leave Assembly with the knowledge, courage and determination to change the world as part of a daring and compassionate 150-year-old movement. The Journey of Mary, mother of Jesus, will guide our spiritual reflections throughout the weekend.

I am asking you to commit. Your call today is to commit to sending one person from your local unit to Assembly. Will you answer the call?

Registration opens Sept. 1, 2017 with an early registration discount ending Nov. 30, 2017. Visit umwassembly.org to register. Go to the SHARE page for resources to help spread the word.

I look forward to seeing you at “The Power of BOLD” Assembly in Columbus!

Sincerely,
