Today's exercise in listening, is in the form of a breath prayer.
It's amazing what a few moments of deep breathing can do to help clear
our hearts and minds, and make us more receptive to what's going on in
the world, in ourselves and with others.
The intentional
slowing of your breath by inhaling and exhaling deeply is a proven way
to slow down your pulse, and oxygenate your mind and heart. It's an invitation to pause and receive guidance when you have a decision to make or to exhale a word of thanks and gratitude.
For those who don't feel they know how to pray, this practice is a great way to begin.
Today, try this breath prayer, remembering that all you encounter, including yourself, are beloved children of God.
Breathe in: You are a beloved child of God.
Breathe out: I am a beloved child of God.
Consider how uttering these simple phrases changes the way we view or interact with someone, and how we even look at ourselves.
