Twenty-six turned out today for the monthly gathering of the United Methodist Women (UMW) at Stevi UMC.
Phyllis Daniels, Mary Hackett, and Sonia Henry were this month's hostesses. The root beer floats were a delightful treat ahead of the warm weekend to come in the Bitterroot Valley.
Today's program was provided by Teresa Messerman who spoke about the work being done by the Montana WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program. WIC offers its services at Stevi UMC each Wednesday from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. President Trudy Freeman presented Teresa a check from the Unit for use in support of the families who utilize WIC's services.
+Bonita Ziegler shared this month's devotions, a reading from one of Patsy Claremont's books.
+Carole Koval reported that two prayer shawls were shared in July/August which takes the total distributed to 206.
+Bev Schneider shared the Spritual Growth moment, a reading Alive Now! Bev also shared about a visit to Intermountain and the important work being done there. Our Unit regularly supports this ministry.
+Hazel Smith shared the Social Action moment, one of the United Methodist Women's Areas of Focus, Maternal & Child Health.
+Marcia Prather encouraged members to make use of Response magazine and to take part in the winter session of Mission u in Billings. Marcia also announced that the UMW reading group would hold its next discussion gathering on September 26 at 7 pm.
+Bonita Ziegler and Sue Pearson reported that 965 apple dumplings were made. Due to the sudden storm on the Saturday of Creamery Picnic there are still 240 dumplings available for sale.This is a major source of income for the Unit to use in its mission efforts.
