Devotional for December 10

A scroll from the Torah
Rabbi—Teacher

In the gospels, the disciples repeatedly refer to Jesus as “rabbi,” which is an Aramaic word meaning “teacher.” Jesus was a Jew and for those who watched Jesus traveling, preaching, and teaching, He was was much like their rabbis who taught each week in the synagogues.

Jesus often attracted crowds through His miracles. He would then teach to the multitudes who gathered around Him.

“A man came to Jesus at night and said, ‘Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miracle things you are doing if God were not with him.’”

                              -John 3:2

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Advent Season, may we also remember the teachings of Jesus, His lessons to live by every day.
