Pentecost Sunday @ SUMC

The last anthem until September
If there is any day on the church calendar that summarizes the faith, it is Pentecost. For John Wesley, Pentecost was the embodiment of the promise of God alive and at work within the church. Our responding to what God has done and is doing in the church gives us confidence that our coming together for worship has purpose!

Before worship began, the United Methodist Women presented $500 scholarships to Mitch Edgar, Tristan Pearson, and Nate Ziegler.

In the worship service this morning, the community worship was enriched by the music offered to God by choir's final offering until September a lively anthem entitled, "Greater." The sermon, "Drink deeply," was based on John 7:37-39. The graduates were called upon by Pastor Charles to assist in the serving of communion on this Pentecost Sunday. It was a special moment in the life of our congregation to share the rite in this way.

Thanks this morning to: Theresa Tripp (nursery), Paul Ludington (praise music), Julie Ludington (piano), Tom Bishop (video), Brenda Bolton (choir), Ben Longbottom (liturgist), Mitch Edgar (acolyte wrangler), Ollie and Ava (acolytes), Linda Kauffman, Sara Malo, and Josh Malo (Communion), Cammie Edgar (overhead), Linda Kauffman & Lynn Moshier (greeter/ushers), Don Nelson & Chuck Petty (offering counters), and Belinda Alkula, Mary Costello, Marcia Prather, Connie Rakiecki, & Gretchen Spiess
(hospitality).

Thanks also to Dave Rakiecki for the amazing starter plants he shared with any and all takers!
