FLATHEAD LAKE
UNITED METHODIST CAMP
Dear
Camp Supporter,
Greetings
from Camp! J Mark your calendar – May
2nd, 3rd, and 4th - the dates for Work Weekend
2014. Gather your tools,
expertise, and enthusiasm to join us for a weekend of work, fellowship, song,
laughter and great food at a place we have all come to love and share -- Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp.
This May the camp needs your help more than ever! The
Camp’s big project for spring 2014 has been building a pump house for clean,
safe, drinking water and installing pipes underground. The new distribution
system will assure clean water that flows to the dining hall, cabins, and bath
houses. Come to camp prepared with your shovels, rakes, and seeders to
landscape the camp after backhoes have dug trenches for the distribution
system. You can also help us lay grass seed and plant trees (larch, ponderosa
pine, and deciduous). More outside work includes removing accumulated debris
from around cabin foundations and off roofs, burning slash, and cutting fire
wood from the hazardous trees we fell in March.
For those of you that prefer to improve the inside of
buildings, the camp has multiple cleaning tasks to make the camp ready for the
campers. In addition, our cabin’s kitchenware needs sorted and boxed to comply
with a Lake County Health Regulation. New this summer, all cabin guests will be
issued dishes, pots and pans, and utensils upon check-in for their personal
cooking so the camp can assure the kitchenware has been sanitized.
We
will be serving dinner Friday evening at 6:00, three meals on Saturday and two
meals on Sunday. In exchange for your
hard work and participation, all meals and lodging will be at no charge. Lodging is on a first come first choice basis
– we do not take reservations for this particular weekend. Please come to the
dining hall to check in and choose your cabin.
To
help us plan for food, please let us know by April 27th if you will be joining us by either writing to
the camp at 21339 Methodist Camp Road, Rollins, MT 59931, or by email at umcamp@montanasky.net or by calling us
at 406-844-3483.
We
look forward to seeing and working with you as we prepare the camp for another
great year of camping experiences for our youth and families.
Blessings,
Karen
