Vision casting in 2015

Vision casting 2015
Enjoying lunch prepared by Bob Edgar
Members of the Ad Council and Guiding Team met this morning at the church for a time of discernment and discussion about the direction and purpose for the Stevensville UMC. Eleven were on hand to explore what hopes, dreams, and wishes we had and how these might be realized in the next two - five years.

Bob Edgar led the group in the discussion using the S.T.O.P. acronym: Stop - Think - Observe - Plan.

Our scriptural foundation comes from the book of Nehemiah, 1:11, 2:1-8, 4:1-8, and 6:15-16.

Bob recommended two speakers from the TED series for our consideration of the challenges and opportunities for the church.  Br. David Steindle-Rast's "Want to be happy? Be grateful" and the Rev. Tim Keller's "Introduction to Theological Vision" were lifted as being particularly beneficial to our communal discernment.

Several concrete ideas came out of this morning and will be presented to the Ad Council next week for consideration.
