More from the UMW District Meeting

Belinda with her donation of a "Fall Frilly Scarf" to the "Swap Meet!"

The good folks of the Mission Valley UMC made all of us feel so very welcome today at the UMW's fall district meeting -- from the welcome sign out at front... to the warm welcome extended to each of us inside!

After our very own Carol Gragg gave the treasurer's report, we were treated to a wonderful account of how this church can to be!  Three small churches made the faith-filled decision to merge and create this very special church, which is located exactly six miles from each of the three churches!  Their story is an inspiration to all of us!

The "swap meet" was so much fun!  Folks donated all kinds of special items to the tables assembled in two rooms.  Each item had a plastic snack-sized zip-lock bag next to it -- marked with a description of the item.  Each attendee was given three pieces of paper, upon which they could write their name.  Then came the difficult decision -- into which zip-lock bag should each of those three pieces of paper be placed?  Later... one name was drawn from each zip-lock bag and then that person was awarded that particular "prize!"

Belinda received a UMW pin and a church cookbook.  Charles received a lovely "Let it snow" sled/basket, a beautiful hand-made wooden cross with the UMC cross and flame on it and some BUTTONS!  (As he always says, a day I get a button ... is a GOOD day!)

All in all, it was a wonderful day.  Thanks be to God for this joy-filled day!
