A wonderful Wednesday

Fall is happening @ SUMC!
Dean shares with the group
Food, fellowship, & faith
The Worship on Wednesday experience is getting better each week!  Tonight, sixteen were on hand including six coming for the first time!  Thanks to Dean and joey for providing the soup/bread supper.

Dean shared tonight's message which was based on a prayer (from St. Augustine of Hippo) and used as part of the Walk to Emmaus weekends:

Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of Your faithful,
and kindle in us the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.

Oh God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may
truly wise and ever enjoy Your consolations.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Questions shared around the table:
1. God is ever with us, why invite the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts?
2. Fire consumes, what does "the fire of Your love" then mean?
3. How does God use you to "renew the face of the earth?"
4. Are you open to the instruction of the Spirit of God?
5. Does this type of prayer have meaning in your life?
