Day 1 (pt. 3) - Yellowstone Annual Conference
The evening of the first day was spent in a solemn time of sharing and reflection with descendants of the massacre at Sand Creek. In November, the nation will mark the 150th anniversary of this tragic event.
Part of the reason for our area (including the Rocky Mountain Conference) to mark this event and seek reconciliation with the descendants of those slain at Sand Creek is the role that the Methodist Church played in the attack.
Tonight we heard from representatives of the Northern Cheyenne, Southern Cheyenne, Northern Arapaho, and Southern Arapaho share their perceptions and relate personal connections to the Sand Creek Massacre.
Please visit this page and learn more about what took place 150 years ago and at tonight's event.
