Devotional for December 14

                                      Morning Star

“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."
-Revelation 22:16

The dictionary defines morning star as the bright star seen before sunrise. It is that light that pierces through the darkness in a way that draws our eyes to it, orienting us as the sun barely begins its journey above the horizon.

As the Morning Star, Jesus is the One who shines a light in our darkness and provides a path for us to live into Love. In this Advent season, I pray that those who struggle in the darkness of despair and depression, who carry broken hearts or broken lives, or who have lost their way, lift up their eyes to the sky and discover themselves bathed in a heavenly light.

May they be touched by the healing hands of Jesus, who offers wholeness and new life. May their steps forever and always be guided by the Morning Star, who even in the darkest moment, whispers hope for the dawn and new life.
