Devotional for December 5

Morning Star

The name Morning Star for Jesus is referenced in the book of Revelation 22:16

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”

I feel this name means Hope and a prayer for Jesus’ second coming. When the early morning star (Venus) shines bright and clear in the western sky, a peaceful, prayerful moment of hope is with us. This time of day offers a promise of freshness, a new beginning and peace.

Also, the same morning star is again the evening star in the heavens. This is our Jesus! When life is dark, he is there to guide us.

At the beginning of our day on earth, and at the end of each day, he is our reference point. Our Morning Star.
