The 56th annual Hanging of the Greens concert was a resounding success and is a fitting launch into the joyous Advent season.
The excitement of the congregation was very evident from the early in the morning as we began arriving for study and worship. By the time the church building was decorated (following the fellowship time) it was plain to see that the community was really into the season of Advent in big way!
Despite the rain which fell throughout the day an appreciative audience came in the evening and were treated to a delightful concert.
The brass ensemble began the program with a selection of carols during the prelude. The chimes, choir and a duet (Brenda B. and Dave L.) completed the program. Special thanks to Rollie F. for his appearance as "the Monotone Angel."
Julie and Paul L. shared the Christmas story with the children who contributed their efforts in placing the figures in the Nativity scene. As the congregation sang a selection of Christmas hymns and carols, Paul helped the children decorate the new Christmas tree for the sanctuary.
Following the concert there was a reception in the Fellowship Hall where there were tables groaning with an abundance of holiday cookies. A thanks goes to everyone who brought treats and served the community in the ministry of hospitality!
